Casualty Evacuation in the Field (Policy)
The purpose of this document is to provide policy direction on the management of casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) across United Nations field missions. It sets out minimum requirements to ensure timely evacuation of United Nations personnel as part of the Organization’s duty of care arrangements. It articulates how United Nations actors at Headquarters and field level should coordinate and integrate actions. It provides the policy framework for the development of mission CASEVAC plans. The requirement for each mission to develop and maintain a CASEVAC plan is derived from the Security Risk Management1 (SRM) and the Health Risk Assessment2 (HRA) processes.
