dc.description.abstract | Guidelines for Force Protection for Military Components of UN Peacekeeping Missions” (first edition) is practical guidance on force protection and provides a generic set of planning, training, coordination, and implementation consideration regarding force protection measures. Hostile actors continuously strive to exploit the perceived and actual vulnerabilities of UN troops and with the growth in complexity of operations, peacekeepers are being targeted directly. This has undermined the tacit protection previously afforded by the wearing of the symbolic blue helmet. This requires military contingents to identify threats, understand appropriate force protection measures, work to manage these risks and emplace mitigation measures to minimize the loss of UN personnel and property. | en |
