Improvised Explosive Device Threat Mitigation in Mission Settings (Guidelines)
Abstract
These Guidelines provide a set of planning and coordination considerations on IED threat mitigation in mission contexts for uniformed and civilian personnel. They cover entry points for IED threat mitigation throughout the mission life cycle, providing a “checklist” of highly recommended measures. They assign responsibilities in IED threat mitigation to DOS, DPO, DPPA, PKOs and SPMs to facilitate synergies in headquarters and the field. The Guidelines reinforce a common understanding of IED threat mitigation terminology across the UN system to ensure a holistic response.
