Integrating a Gender Perspective into the Work of UN Police in Peacekeeping Missions

Abstract

The guidelines were developed on the basis of a workshop convened by the Police Division and the Gender Unit of DPKO in March 2007. The purpose of the guidelines is to provide guidance to UN Police and national law enforcement agencies on strategies for promoting gender-sensitive policing in post-conflict countries along with checklists for activities such as increasing the recruitment and career advancement opportunities of women.
