Guidelines on Cycle Count of Expendable Property and Reconciliation of Discrepancies in Field Missions
The purpose of these Guidelines is to establish a unified approach for the cycle count activities for expendable property in the DFS-supported field operations. The guidelines are based on the leading business practices and recommend standard work processes, key actions and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the area of physical verification of expendable property. The Guidelines must be read in conjunction with the DPKO/DFS Guidelines on Warehousing Operations for Field Missions, dated 1 June 2009. These guidelines can be applied to any warehousing strategy, and can accommodate both centralized and decentralized operations. Warehouse managers should adopt and adapt these guidelines for their day-today operations. All DFS staff involved in asset management and property management should be aware of the Guidelines. The guidelines outline key elements of the effective cycle counting programme and should be used as a basis for developing mission-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) as the missions vary in terms of size, operating environment, composition, as well as distribution of relevant roles and responsibilities.
